Congratulations to Dr Sacha Noimark, post-doctoral research associate for GIFT-Surg, who has been awarded the Ramsay Fellowship to develop new miniaturised ultrasound/photoacoustic probes.

Dr Noimark’s research is focused on the development of nanostructurepoylmer composite materials for laser-generated ultrasound, to be used in the development of probes that can provide visualisation of the fetus and placenta from within the uterus. The probes will be composed of optical fibres coated by a synthesis of biocompatible nanocomposite materials with magnetic functionality using innovative deposition methods.

Ramsay Memorial Fellowships were established as a memorial to Sir William Ramsey, and provide funding for postdoctoral researchers to undertake original and independent research in chemistry.
